I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I can't believe it has been since July since I've posted anything. After we got back from the National Doll Festival, all attention was placed on our new (old) house! Having just moved from Mississippi, everything was placed on hold to do the doll show. Since then, we have really been working hard painting, etc. Now, our entire kitchen has been torn out, and we are in the midst of a total remodel of kitchen, family room, breakfast room, and also have had a new rear deck built. What a mess!! However, I hope it is totally worth it when all is done. Hopefully before Christmas. I have managed to set up the upstairs of our house as my total doll headquarters! I have finished one special order doll, which I picture here, and am working on two others. THEN, I have to start making new dolls for next years NDF in Washington DC in July!! I always come home from these shows thinking I have so much time to make new dolls, but here it is November already!! Anyhow, I always manage somehow, as doll making is my total passion. Luckily, I have a very understanding husband!
This new little doll, "Carrie Ann" , has just arrived in her new home in Connecticut. She is a 12" tall Izannah Walker reproduction. Her dress is made of antique fabric from the 1860's. I made the little cat toy for her to keep her company on her long journey north. I have decided to try to make the majority of the dolls for the next show in this size or slightly larger; so many of my ladies that buy my dolls are asking for the smaller sizes, as they are running out of room with their collections! The small ones are really fun to make, and I'll be making not only IW repros, but others dressed in outfits from the Jane Austen era up to the 1880's. I will also be making extra outfits for the dolls, accessories and furniture. Stay tuned for more pictures!
